The good thing about numbers is that, they never lie.
Numbers merely state what is factual, although, numbers can be twisted to feed our egos.
Take for example, the QS 2018 World University Rankings, complied by
Quaoquarelli Symonds (QS), a British company specialising in education.
The ranking concludes, that Malaysia is home to Asean’s third, fourth, fifth, seventh, and eighth highest ranked international universities.
It is indeed an achievement, although a closer look at the numbers, reveals, our top university on the list, University Malaya is ranked 114.
Singapore’s Nanyang Technological University came in at number 13 on the list, while the National University of Singapore, came in at number 15.
So, should we be satisfied, with having, so many Universities on the list, but none in the top 20.
The numbers, they don’t lie, although there are times, having strength in numbers, might not be the path for success.
