Going through the Star today, on mother’s day, it dawned on me that what we need to fix this country is EDUCATION.
We don’t need mindless 3J slogans, because for slogans such as these to work, we need a society to be EDUCATED enough to know that corruption is morally wrong.
Malaysia, meanwhile believe it or not is not very far off, from shaping a society that truly believes that corruption is wrong.
The Malaysian Insight web portal reported last month that according to the Corruption Prevention Action Effectiveness Perception Study of students, some 63 per cent of our university students will REPORT a corrupt act to the authorities.
That is a good start, now all we need to do is sort out the other 37 per cent. Until then let’s go easy on the 3J’s (Jangan Hulur, Jangan Kawtim dan Jangan Settle), and pump in more money, time and effort into our education system to fight this menace.
