Believe it or not, there may be slightly mentally ill teachers walking in and around the class room throughout Malaysia. This is a very disturbing trend, and very little is known, why such teachers are still in the class room.
According to Deputy Education Minister Datuk P. Kamalanathan last year, about 200 teachers underwent counselling, including two per cent who were instructed to do so.
The minister said this, after he was asked to comment on an incident where a Year Two pupil sustained a head injury after being hit by a wooden chair thrown by a teacher at a school in Penampang, Sabah, two days ago.
Cases such as this, and the abuse case of the 11 year old boy in Johor, obviously are prompting parents to look at private education, as a better option.
